J-Summit @ Webster Hall 2009
November 1st was the J-Summit Halloween Bash by the NYJS.
It was also the first performance by the new members Abraham, Carmella, Joy, Matthew, Mia and Tina. It was a nice way to start off their life with 10tecomai.
Outside before we went in for Tech.

It was nice to be able to perform at a place with such history as Webster Hall has..

Crazy ladies before the show....

Photo of everyone before we go on stage.

Some photos of us performing (Thanks Yuka and Lika for the shots!)

Everyone gave their all. It was a great performance!

10/15/2009
Its been a while since last I posted so let me try to mention in short what’s been happening over the past Summer.
A LOT!!!
We had several more performances around the Tri-State area after Washington DC (probably the busiest schedule we’ve ever had (1-2 performances almost every week for 2 months).
Then in August, Tomoko, Yuria and I went to check out Yosakoi and other festivals in Japan. First Tomoko and Yuria went to Tokushima to see one of the most famous dance festival in Japan.
Here’s some Photos,

Also before we came back to NYC we checked out the Domannaka Yosakoi Festival (Domatsuri) in Tomoko’s hometown of Nagoya.

Wow, the energy and performances were wild! I took a few photos but I don’t think they accurately display just what we felt when we were there.

Yuria was getting into the Yosakoi Spirit too!!

This group is has our name too! (different Kanji however and spelled “Tentecomai” instead of our 10tecomai – veeery cool name though..haha)

We met with them to say hello and they really gave us a nice hello and let us cheer with them!

At night all the competition Yosakoi groups were allowed to ALL dance on stage while the audience danced along with them. WOW, the energy was so intense to see and feel!!

For those who love Yosakoi as we do, its really something to see at least once if you’re in Japan during the summer time.
We had our Fall Auditions just last month and we are happy to introduce our new members, Abraham, Carmella, Joy, Matt and sisters Tina and Mia.

Heres the participants looking at some of my Yosakoi video footage from Japan (most of them didn’t know what Yosakoi is)

Omedeto on making it into 10tecomai!!! I hope you enjoy your time with us as we do having you with us.
Lastly, we had to say “see you soon” to our founder, our head Taicho Hiroyuki Kobayashi as he heads back to Japan for the next stage in his life there.
We had a small get together for some food and drink a few weeks ago with Hiro at B Flat Bar.

Hiro, Yuria and our friend and NJ dance teacher Reiko.

A few of us having a “chocolate shake” shot…tasted great (don’t look at Yukas face though)
A few days later , some pictures of his going away dinner with 10tecomai after his last rehearsal with us a few Saturdays ago.

At the airport he had to leave very early but some of us managed to sleep in the airport ALL NIGHT waiting for him.

(just joking, they’re really awake..we got to the airport a little before he came.)

Hiro letting me sign his Cajon one more time…

We hope that his trip is not for good and that he’ll be back in the future. In the meantime he’ll still be in Japan helping us out from there. We will all miss you Hiro-san. Thank you for what you started and placing your trust in us to continue on with your work. All the best success to you back in Akita and then Tokyo.
Next blog...upcoming performances!!!! 2 in November and one in December (or maybe more???...stay tuned!)

Washington DC Performance Trip
Washington DC 49th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival
Washington DC was a great beginning for the 10tecomai Sakura Matsuri Season.

Only one and an half hours before we performed we landed in DC. Time to get going and ready to perform!

All smiles before were on stage...

We weren’t able to take photos of ourselves during the performance. Hopefully someone can email it to us if they took pics of us!!!
After our 2nd performance on the big Pennsylvania Ave main stage.

The crowd was unbelievably large and the energy was intense. We got a great reception and hope that next year we can participate again for the 50th anniversary.

We all ate at Chinatown for our celebration dinner for a great performance.

Kyoko, Hiro, Kirsten, Tomoko, Yuria and I went to check out the sights the next day and enjoy all the Sakura in DC.
Yuria enjoyed saying hi to Obamas home.

The trees were in full bloom and very, very beautiful to see. If you love cherry blossom trees, you must go to DC when its in full bloom at least once in life.

We were so full of energy we just had to jump for joy….many…

..many...

many…

..MANY times!!

After all the jumping and sightseeing and walking we were so tired.

Lets go home….. =)
